What's up with all the lt1 hate going on? I have a 95 TA it runs a low 13s and is 50 miles away from 200,000 on the stock engine. I drive hard mix between mainly city and lil highway I pull 250miles per tank around 18-19 mpg. Lt1 sound better then ls1s also. They aren't a slow engine just about half second slower than a newer engine. The opti is a bitxh to get to but you only here the bad stories you never hear from the people who don't have problems at all. And ls1 camaros look like fish and cryslers, a lt1 Camaro with the ss hood looks way better.
Go and drive it and see how you like it before you make your mind up.

I agree with the others steer clear of that camaro, but the colorado sounds like a cool project. Dont dismiss the 5.3 so fast though, pretty stout engine and can be had very cheap. When I get the camaro paid off I want to look into swapping one into an S10. Like others said keep looking around when you see YOUR car you will know it!
There might be a little hating on the LT1s but they are asking WAY too much for the car his parents are trying to make him buy...he could have a nice lsx car for that kinda money!

No hate here for the LT1 either. They are our 5.7 twin!!
Just 8k is FAR too much for an LT1. Yea, its a 30th but it has way too many miles to be a collector car and thats the only way someone would ask for 8k.

5.3 local runs a 11.02 in his procharged shortbed 1500 full weight
this he put down something like 580rwhp with a small shot on top of the STOCK 5.3
they are tough lil engines
stock everything except for the procharger cam and nitrous

When I was 16 I bought my 69' camaro and daily drove it through high school, until the one thing broke and it turned into a project car from then on. Borrowed cars, until I finally could afford something to put around in, my 01' LS1.

But driving to school with the windows down in 40 degree weather because your car has no HVAC system is brutal. And the vinyl seats in 95+ heat makes for a great sweat box.
Looking back, I would NOT do it again. I do not care how cool I looked in that car.

A colorado at you age would proabably be a good idea. college truck bed comes in handy and when you get out of college and buy a home, a truck is very handy.
You can always get a SS or Ws.6 later on in the condition you want.
I do like your idea of dropping in a 6.0 in the colorado. small cam and some heads would really wake that truck up, but will it be too much HP for the weather up there?

do you think mommy and daddy would allow you to do an engine swap in a vehicle they just bought? I wouldn't let my kid try it.
