cheap SLP longtubes or Kooks?
hi, im looking into a very odd exhaust system and doubt it will work but really want to.
the first part starts at the headers, i could either buy SLP longtubes for 400 from a buddy and hear them bottom out all day or invest in some kooks. what would the pro's recommend.
next i would like to go a Y pipe to a bassani and duals out... BUT HERE IS THE KICKER.. i want the 3" pipe to come out before the rear wheels. but i know i will need an exhasut on it, i dont like the sound of open pipes.
would this be possible?? please say yes but i have a feeling i will be bottoming out every bump on gods green earth..

So wait you want a Y pipe.. and A Xpipe? I'm a little lost and theres alot of options for headers. Pacesetters are fine, slps do hang low, you will be bottoming out so you decide which you want.

ok the SLP's were cheap but is there any comparable headers that you would recommend for roughly the same price.
the second part of the question is weather or not my idea would work. pretty much i want my exhaust to come out before the rear wheel but i still want a muffler on it. therefor i would have to do a short Y pipe into the muffler then duals out to the rear wheels. possible?

Painted Pacesetter long tubes for $369 and ceramic coated for $479 at Texas Speed....I have had a set of the ceramic coated Pacesetters on my car for 6 years and 191,000 miles with no problems....as you can see they do not look bad after all these years...instalation was a breeze...a DD that makes 452/418.
For the rest of your exhaust the easiest and least expensive way to do what you want is to run Texas Speeds Rumbler True Duals...they will bolt right up to the headers and dump at the rear axle..for $900 you have new headers and true duals that will sound and perform great....click on their logo on the right side of this page if you want to see some pics.

I havent heard to many good things about the SLP Headers. I have always heard great things about Kooks though. I would stick with what works rather than something you can get cheap. It will always come back to haunt you.

ok that sounds good, i will look into them, but is there ANY bullet exhaust that would sound like a bassani or borla xr-1's? thats my new problem. plus i would have to buy 2

I have SLP's, and love em. Im stock height, hit speed bumps, weird angled drive ways, etc, and have never scraped. They do hang lower than most, so if you are a lowered ride, you may have issues there, i will never go lowered, so no issues for me. They make great power,,stainless steel AND ceramic coated so they will last a long time, and look great doing it. If you can get some cheap, that arent beat up, snag em up. I go mine for 600 shipped from KY Turbo guys, and they looked brand new, still do...Y pipe, cats, hardware and all.

unless they are FREE stay the hell away from SLP LT's...if you ever want to change the ride height or stance of your car, you will hate that damn **** poor design ...go pace setters best bang for the buck..if you got DEEP pockets go kooks.

I've never scrapped my Hooker Headers (Y-pipe is another story though ) and the install was easy. But in less than a year they have started to rust. Look into LPP headers, they are stainless and fairly cheap. Hooker headers can also be purchased in stainless steel, but I can't remember how expensive they are.
