I am not impressed with the awful rasp that my car puts out.
I had Kooks Lt's, Kooks, ORY and SLP LM1 - rasp was awful. Sounded like **** above 2000 rpm.
I Now have Kooks Lt's, ORY, and a Magnaflow CB - sounds better and the rasp is way less but still there. I am gonna try the flowmaster merge and see if it makes any difference.

He reached his 500 rwhp goal with a cutout that was open. Not taking anything away from him or the y-pipe exhaust, but according to Pat, his car lost 9.5 rwhp with the cutout closed, so there obviously is restriction at that power level with a y-pipe, no matter how good the design is.
Guys I was pissed at some **** I was dealing with and having a bad night so sorry if i came across as a$$hat
But the truth is for us guys making 400-500 rwhp a nice merge and a good CB will cost you very little.
I saw on a dyno a Kooks headers/Y MS4 car making 440 pick up only 5rwhp with the cutout open. He was running a Hooker CB and that is why I decided to run a Hooker.
Big cube high HP cars hell yea it makes more difference.
For most of us there is not enough difference to tell.....

I got lt's,non cat y and lm1 w/ head/cam/intake/spray. and oh man its loud, but i cant say it sounds bad, it sounds like a race car
But its unusable, so i am installing a lm2 muffler,
But i know i want TD, anyone here running them full length?

I agree with the merge. With LT's, LM1 and a poor merge Y and I went from horrible rasp and I didnt even want to drive the car to adding the moroso mufflers which helped a lot but I got a smooth flowmaster type merge with slp cats and it sounds smooth now. I'm sure the cats helped a little but mostly the merge.
TDs may be the best but there is no reason a good Y setup shouldnt be done, especially if you want to lower the car.

i have the tsp TD's and no problems at all with scraping. actually i believe i gained a little space at the x-pipe. sound alone is worth the switch. i had way to much rasp with my ypipe setup.

So the bottom line is if you wanna get rid of the shitty raspy sound produced from aftermarket cat backs, you should get a properly done Y pipe with a smoother merger/collector.

So with only a few light mods headers and a tune. Is ithurting me to have true dual with it dumping off about halfway down the car? Because if it is I really wouldnt mind getting a new setup. The camaro is lowered and i scrape on pretty much everything. I was told i could be losing a couple hp with no back pressure. No cats...any sight on my issues?

I've heard the arguments and tried the duals, but switching back to a traditional Y-pipe and SLP D/D catback with a cutout gained me .3 and 3 MPH at the track. Same track, same weather conditions, different night. I'm not saying it was all exhaust, but that's a pretty big gain with all else being equal. For the record, my duals were 2.5" mandrel bent with an H-pipe. I much prefer the catback with a cutout setup.
