I've been doing my research on LS1's and may be confused, but I came across a few 4.8 engines and noticed they said LSX block. Does this mean aftermarket internals made for 5.7 LS1 engines can be used in them, such as cams and so forth? This may be obvious to most, but not to me.

In a nutshell yes. A 4.8 is the same bore as a 5.3 just a shorter stroke. That block can be bored to 3.98 and use OEM pistons or 3.905 and accept aftermarkets. The stock crank will work or you can 4.0" and take that block to 383ci.....
