C6 ZO6 outperforms the 5th gen in every way in my opinion. it wouldn't even be a question if it was a base C6 vs. the camaro. i'd even take a C5 over a 5th gen camaro. i guess i just like vette's haha

Hmmmmm! loaded question-no right answer, opinions, opinions. Comes down what u will be happy with n what your wallet can afford. Buy the Vette -Modding will be more expensive $$! Also have to consider what insurance premiums will cost you, based on your age, driving record etc. I had an 07 C6 Corvette w/ Z51 option-didn't like it-Corvettes are awesome-just not for me. I wished i never sold my heavily modded 02 SS LS1
Good luck on your quest-if moneys no object buy a Bugatti 16.4 Veyron!!!!

The 5th gens haven't been around long enough to get the bad rep that is a comin. They are part of the "New GM" and apart from their engine everything else sucks!
I say get the vette.
I say get the vette.

if the z28 were out this year, it might make for a tougher decision....but its not. C6Z all the way. cant go wrong with a car that can make 600rwhp from a cam and ported heads. if you want a warranty, then i guess buy the '10 Camaro, but thats the only reason i see for me.

C6Z, FTW. I have a C5 vert and love every second of it, I can only imagine what a C6Z would be like. One of these days...
And dont fall for that "rich, old, fat, balding" Corvette owner stereotype either...there's plenty of us out there that are far from that description.

Before everyone starts poo-pooing on the 5th gen Camaro, maybe you should drive, or own, one first. Don't take this the wrong way, to each their own, but I have nothing but positive things to say about mine. As far as the "Wow factor" the car draws massive amounts of attention everywhere I go, and the stick cars have the same engine as the standard C-6, and hundreds have posted (with time slips, and/or videos) 12 sec times right out of the box. The price is far better too, mine was only $33,975, and it's got everything but a sunroof. I doesn't matter which one you buy, but check them both out before forming an opinion, the C-6 Z06 is an incredible car, but full coverage on this is $75 a month, and with the extra 10k to 20k, I think I could make this car just as fast. Just my opinion.

Honestly you could go with a C6 ls3 also.. You can pick those up for mid 30s IIRC, the same as a '10 SS.. Not to count it is almost a full second faster..
Not trying to hate on the new camaros.. I was one of the few that REALLY talked them up on here before they came out.. And they still are performing up to par if you ask me.. But putting them anywhere near the same category as a C6Z is a shame.. Hell, even a C6 ls3 as stated or even a C5Zo6.. You might put them in the same class as a C5 ls2, but even still it would ONLY be better in a select few situations.
They are GM's pride a glory for a reason.. They are beats.

c6 Zo6 all the way. yeah I think the new Camaros are awesome but not in the same ball park as the Zo6. I can't attest to nothing but what I have seen with my own eyes but I watched a 06 Zo6 with Full Exhaust, Halltech CAI, HP Tuners Homemade Tune (guy had experience with tuning however) and MT ET Streets run at 10.8 bogging off the line. It's just hard to beat a Zo6 my friend.

C6Z- 11 sec times right out of the box, 2006s are in the mid-$40Ks and you would be hard-pressed to come close to the overall performance with an extra $10-12K.
You are absolutely correct on the 5thGen being an awesome ride. It is just hard to compare to what the C6Z brings to the table...
