i vote nitrous, build a forged 402 ls2 with a fast 90/90 with direct port and run 9's....and it will be well below 20k i would bet...but if you went the turbo route, i would build a low compression forged 370 and drop it off somewhere reputable and have a badass twin turbo setup custom made..

I think you somehow just read my mind..Ive been drooling over my keyboard and endlessly searching the Forum since about 7pm (its about 12:15am in Iraq where i am) and have since pretty much settled on the D1 and a forged 383. The other stuff (heads, cam, intake) are still up in the air.

Default D1SC procharger

My vote is the D1SC procharger. Have all 3 cars myself. I have a D1SC procharger Trans Am, a nitrous camaro and a turbo GN. They all 3 make a lot of power but the NOS u gotta refill and it runs out and it's not always there. Turbo is better but i don't like the turbo lag. The D1SC procharger is always there feels like part of the motor and is a lot funner to drive.

I vote (F/I) if you have the $$ for it. The hp is always there and you don't have to worry about filling up the bottle.

I have always been a nitrous fan. Although all of my cars have always been street cars that are meant to be competitive. I've always liked the infinite adjustability of nitrous, there are alot of additions out there you can add to a nitrous kit now to make it do or not do just about anything.

I have always enjoyed having the instantaneous power of an all motor car and nitrous is just a push. The only down side to it that I can see is you have to refill the bottle. You dont have to heat them anymore, it can always be there if you wish it to be, etc. If you are properly set up its not much more harsh than that of an FI application.

Seeing your goals since you want to have something just to go out and ride around in, go to cruises, and stuff of that nature I would just grab the procharger. Just bolt it on and with the right supporting mods and boost will net you some big gains without alot of the "give and take," plus all the time of tinkering getting your set up just right for you, like a nitrous or turbo set up would. Good luck, hope this helps.

Hey I wasn't bashing the Nitrous use i just wanted to clear that up. When done properly it works. There is just other stuff that goes along with it. Also I would like to point out. A hooked up nitrous bottle in a street car is illegal but a turbo is never illegal.

i just read $20k budget???

FI all the way. D1 on a forged motor with nitrous also... damn, that sounds so good, its probably a bad idea. maybe you should put it in a retirement fund or use it as a down payment for a(nother?) house.

This is alos true about it being illegal. I've always hid mine for this and other reasons.

I perfer FI but for street racing spray is better because you can hide it and use it in stages.

Yeah i know, it sounds absurd, but Ive got additional savings already so i wont be blowing all my money on the car (even though my mind runs wild with what i could do to the ride with the rest of it).

This is true but you can hustle with a boost controler "IN CAR" Run a race back to back and jack up the boost on a turbo. on the spot not even leaving the car... Spray you are limited to how much is left in the bottle and what stages you have preloaded. Turbo you can keep cranking the boost up all day!

This is why i'm selling my NOS kit I just bought a turbo...

427 with a 200 shot gets my vote. Even without juice the 427 will put down loads of power.
