5.3 or wait for 6.0?
I have a friend who does gm wrecks. He gets in truck motors all the time.He has a 5.3 out of a 03 avalanche i could get reasonable.Im not sure what to put it in (thinking 88 mustang-i know i know, but there light!)i just like to build fast engines.
Should i wait for a 6.0 to come in?Whats the cheapest way to make power with either one of them? What is the est rwhp for the buget build?think bank for buck here.

The 5.3L is rated at 285hp 20hp less than a F-body, which really isnt much go drive an older tahoe with a 5.3 for as heavy as they are 5,050LBS they move pretty good. Ours has 160k and i drove a 2005 and couldn't tell the difference.

I agree about the 5.3 mine has 275,000 miles on it and its still kicking hard. I've even sprayed it. You can turbo the 5.3 and be very happy with it. I swaped my 5.3 for a 6.0 because it leaks oil pretty good.

Nothing beats cubic inches... But if i do recall correctly there was a budget 6.0 with l92s and im not 100% sure but i think it was the hot cam that they used and made right around 550hp at the flywheel. I dont remember what mag it was but i think it was GMHP or GMHT

depends on what you can get the 6.0L for....if the 5.3 is cheap enough then i would grab it up and have at it..later on if you get the chance for a 6.0L then get it as well..if you wait for a 6.0L and it doesnt come in right away, you are going to kick yourself for not getting the cheap 5.3L....JMO

i know, i was just wondering what kind of numbers could be expected from a d1sc powered 5.3l with gm heads and forged internals.
