I've been looking for GMPP 4.10's and I dont know where to find them? Also, where did you purchase your master install kit. I never heard of it but if it includes everything that I might as well.

What it made fun? Swapped my stalled tranny to T56. What made it more fun? Put some suspension parts to handle better Gs.

This is even true with Mustangs. It's the best "seat of pants" feeling you'll get of any mod. Having said that, if you have a 5-6spd and use the car for a daily, I might get 3.73s instead. That's what I am getting for my GT.

Then get 3.73 IMHO. You'd be happier with those than with the 4.10s. Again IMHO with 4.10s you're going to need some suspension upgrades and some DRs. I am not sure about F-bodies, but i know in the modular mustang world, 4.10 sometimes tops out before 100mph in 4th gear. But the 3.73s do not. Again, this may not be the case with f-bodies as it is Mustangs. So don't take MY word for it. While gears don't ADD any HP, they make better use of it, and therefore make you faster. I wouldn't however try to install them yourself if you've never done it.

I'll also add a decent short throw shifter from a rep brand name is also a great/cheap/do-it-yourself investment.

Not only does it feel better, and stop you from mis-shifting, you will shift faster = faster over all.

A good STS will benefit even a daily driver non-racer.

I've never seen a noticable MPG difference between 3.42s and 4.10s. Infact, with my old LT1 car I could get 30mpg (bolt-on car) and with my cammed ls1 I can still get 28 on the highway. You're able to use higher gears in town, don't have to step on it as much to get it rolling, and the interstate RPMs are still ~1800 to 2200 rpm depending on how fast you're driving.

Well our cars are speeds right so It might not be that bad at all. I have a deacent street performance tire on it now, but no DR's. If I knew that my stock crappy bolt wont take a dump on me, I would get them.

Based on this thread so far, Im really, really considering getting some 4.10's if I can find the GM 4.10's.

I'd have to say 373 gears and exhuast go hand and hand. Nothing like hearing our monster cars and feeling it thru the gears. SS4000 going in soon so based on most plp opnions, I think I'm going to love it. Sometimes you can find the gm gears on ebay. I got my 373 gears and master install kit on there for the super cheap!!!

Like I said before. If you wont be going to the track, I'd get 3.73s if you have a 5/6spd. If it's an auto, 4.10s. IMHO of course. I've seen people go from 3.73 to 4:10s and get SLOWER 1/4 mile times because they didn't have slicks, or any suspension mods.

best mod that i enjoyed so far is staying stock!

Driving around in a stock car feels better than my previous full bolt on car...

still smooth and responsive
