Same here... I went 13.1 @ cordova in my stock 01 Z28 and I not only miss gears on regular occasion but even on my best passes I hit the rev limiter between shifts ....monkey ******* a football is probably an accurate description. Haha...

SS comes with slightly better exhaust, i dont believe it so too bad, F U to the guy that said i must drive a rustang. these cars are old enough that someone probably did something to it and your about the 5th owner so you have no clue! when these first came out the magazines rated a completely stock Z28 at 13.8 and an SS at 13.5 how did they get faster over time? BS!

o1's & 02's have better exhaust manifolds and ls6 intakes, BUT SMALLER CAMS! (lift 475 vs 498). SS has better exhaust (muffler)& gears than z28. plus some suspension otherwise just looks.

add D/R's on any m6 SS and they will run high 12's all day.

I simply can't believe this stuff has to be explained to people this many years later... magazine times are not track times. The new GPS based stuff they test with is light years ahead of the old crap and is corrected for conditions... if you picked up any car and ran them using both methods you would find a large gap. It's likely that even the 5th gen would have been rated 13.5 or slower with the old 5th wheel and uncorrected numbers that they published back then.

They didn't get FASTER...with any kind of driver and good air they have always been pulling good numbers. I remember all of my friends pulling 13.5 @ 105mph over and over again during the summer in bone stock LS1 Automatic cars here at Cordova... that was back in 1999 even.

The SS also never had any real 1/4 mile advantage over the Z28 so it appears that you have been reading way to many magazines. (Save for the SLP '345' package or similar equipped SS... a lid / catback is going to give a slight advantage everytime...I picked up .74mph in the 1/4 with a lid/fra.)

no gear difference unless we are looking at the automatics... manuals all had 3.42s and automatics were 3.23 only (for SS model) and 2.73/3.23 for Z28.

Wheel hop? Not unless you are a failure at driving or have the worlds worst preppped (or rather unprepped) track. It's really hard to get wheelhop with a clutch slip launch.

I can tell by your previous post you dont have the slightest clue about the difference between an SS and a Z28. The SS was an appearance package, period. Thats all you are gauranteed to get. Anything else was optional and cost extra money on top of the base price of the appearance package. Not all SSs got extra/optional equipment, they were all different as far as what they got and didnt get based on what was available. Im refering to LS SSs btw.

They do test the cars...but they don't run the cars at a dragstrip like we do. The numbers just don't match up. Newer magazine tests are much closer but they are corrected for conditions (which a track slip is not) and they still don't match up 100% though they are much closer than previous methods.

Just watch the videos in my sig...100% unmodified car (well...the rims were spray painted...if you want to count that against me)... Actual dragstrip times, two different drivers (the fiancee's 4th pass down a strip in here life), two different dates, same car.
