So i'd like to run an off road Y pipe on my car, but i'm in new york. It won't pass emissions if i have them on, but i know some people do it anyway. Does it just have to be tuned out of the computer so that it won't set of the ses light?

you cant just tune the light out, you have to get the moniters tuned to be ready. I just went through this with my mustang.....i thought if the cel wasnt on that i was ok...but i ended up failing inspection. There are certain readiness monitors that will come on after a certain cycle of driving if everything is working properly, if not they will come up as not ready..and if you have more than 1 not ready showing you fail.

i live in ny yes you can just have it tuned out you will pass the computer inspection with flying colors but if they look under your car you wont where ever you get it tuned usally the tuner will tell you some place to get it inspected

get some hollow dummy cats so you pass the visual and then get the rear 02 sensors tuned out.

is silversrtman onto something? or is it different with mustangs?
Am i definately safe with just tuning out out the o2 sensors? the guy i take it too i know and won't check under the car, just plug it in and off i go

as long as you get the rear o2s tuned so that they arent just off, and get it tuned so the computer sees a value. The ones in my mustang were just turned off, which in turn killed all my moniters lol...but its the same for both cars
