Default should i trade LS1 for s/c LT1?

OK i have my mind pretty made up, just wanted some more opinions.

I think i'm trading my car for 95 Trans Am with 93,000 miles and its been rebuilt with a small cam, 420/422. mid length headers, etc. It also has a Vortech supercharger that has been recently rebuilt with 65k bearings and a smaller pulley so its pulling about 9lbs of boost. The car has a small 1800 converter but the the guy i'm getting it from is giving me a 3000 converter and 410s with car.
Keep in my mind that my LS1 car has 195,000 miles and runs high 12s. This guy is also a member of LS1tech, and hes seems to be pretty straight up honest about everything. The TA needs an alternater and a tune.

What would you do?

Is the motor rebuilt with different pistons? LT1's have pretty high compression like LS motors do and I didnt think they liked much boost in stock form with the iron block/aluminum heads.

I'd say the car is worth looking at and going from there.

i dont think it has different pistons but the heads have been worked over. Ive already went and looked at the car, and rode in it. its pretty beast, its just needs a tune bc its bouncing off the rev limiter bc its only been drivin like 45 miles since the supercharger rebuild.

Bouncing off the limiter when? On the gear changes? If so, it could be the tune but it also could be the trans on the way out. Check to see if theres a cooler for the trans.

Is it a stock fuel pump in it also? If so, with 93k and a blower it may need to be upgraded/replaced soon which will be expensive if you cant do it yourself.

As long as the car checks out good and your happy with it, Id say its not a bad trade.

yea it bounces off the rev limiter when at full throttle, but if i get it ill will baby it till it is tuned, and we have came to the agreement that if it is still doing that after i get it tuned, he will fix the tranny.

I remember running my stock LS1 at the track along with another guy and a S/C's LT1, it was a Hot day in the middle of Summer `99 and I was running faster times then he was.
Just my $.02 but I would keep the LS1.

If there's nothing wrong with your car, I'd keep it. I wouldn't want to take on someone's aborted project vehicle. If I were you...I'd ask myself why he wants to trade for a car that has 100k+ miles more. Just my $.02 though...

I would be VERY carefull here. was is it he's trying to get rid of and why? for the same body style car with 100k MORE miles... HMMMM!!!! Remember, If it sounds to good to be true, IT IS!!!!

Think of this, if it did not have the "supercharger" would you still be trading it???
Prob Not, so why is he looking to get rid of it so quick and for the same style car????

Along with this thought...why would someone spend the money for a supercharger then sell it after less than 50 miles?
Just be careful, even though its way less miles, from what I have heard, LT1s are harder to work on.

same here^^^ keep yours and do a stock to mild rebuild with some prc heads, ls6 mani, and a good matching cam w/a tune and you will see his power numbers with your mild ls1. the technology of the lt1 is basically 50 years old, besides the opti crap, which is JUNK. keep the ls1.
