I can see why people would think this, but its still a stretch.

Its like when the guys at work say a fence broke because the weather got cold. or seven up is the cure all, or mayonnaise will kill you if you eat it if its left out or warmed up.

But BS none the less. I jacked mine up with the T-Tops on all the time. Think about how much flex that would be to actually bust your t-tops. If that happened you would shatter your t-top every time you went over rail road tracks or a gradient.
Myth or not, it doesnt matter. Tire shops would lift the hood/trunk and I believe crack the doors before putting a C4 on a lift. Nowadays you are correct with the chassis being more stiff, but just because a c6 has a stiff frame doesnt mean every other previous generation did.

I have heard of it being a issue with some targa top cars. My old delSol was a rattle trap and shops would pop the roof latches before lifting it. I had another one (delSol) that I was in a accident with the top off. I had to pound it on before the car was picked up by the tow truck.

I have heard about a t-top exploding when they took a turn too fast or something like that. I think it was a second gen though.

I remember hearing that the t-tops on 4th gens are pretty strong and actually fairly hard to break, don't quote me on that though.

I had one fly out at 70mph because it wasn't latched. It got scuffed up pretty bad but didn't break.

All your cars were built as t-top cars. The hardtops were converted to hardtop.

ttops were an option, but most of them had them because its a good compromise between a vert and a hardtop. last part is my opinion.

There might be some truth to this. In 1992, I bought a new 3rd gen, and I ordered it with 305 TPI with manual. No T-top available, and the reason was body flex. T-top was also not available with 350 TPI auto. All other lower output engine configurations were available with T-top at the time.

Obviously, the design engineers knew the body was soft.
