Default Jacking up a car with t-tops myth

So most of you have probably heard the myth that if you don't unlatch your t-tops before you jack the car up or put it on a lift you run the risk of them cracking. The question is, is this true?

I'm glad it wasn't true while I had mine, for they would've cracked quickly.

Never heard that in my life. Probably happened one time to an already damaged t-top, and then the rumors started. Dont worry about it.

Never heard that before, nor do I beleive it. I've jacked several of these cars up so many times I can't count and this has never happened. Nor have I ever known anyone to have this happen.

I heard it about some Vette's, not F-bodies.
And it was something like pop the hood and open doors.

Can't see that being true. If it was gonna happen I'd say the Fbodies would have. Vette's have a much stronger frame than an Fbody.

But BS none the less. I jacked mine up with the T-Tops on all the time. Think about how much flex that would be to actually bust your t-tops. If that happened you would shatter your t-top every time you went over rail road tracks or a gradient.

What?

I've had my car jacked up a bajillion times (oil changes, suspension work, spark plugs, rear end change, you name it) and never had a t-top crack.

yeah, its bs.

Im suprised nobody has brought up all the people to drag race their t-top f-bodies. Look at the guys that are twisting the hell out of the car pulling one wheel off the ground.

4th gens were designed to be T-top from the start, so they are stiff enough to be jacked up.

The myth may have started by some retrofit T-tops on some old car with a flimsy body. Those T-tops may not be safe when being jacked up.

****, if your car has that much flex you have bigger issues. . . . Like your car just falling apart. . .
