I can see why people would think this, but its still a stretch.
Its like when the guys at work say a fence broke because the weather got cold. or seven up is the cure all, or mayonnaise will kill you if you eat it if its left out or warmed up.

Can't see that being true. If it was gonna happen I'd say the Fbodies would have. Vette's have a much stronger frame than an Fbody.
But BS none the less. I jacked mine up with the T-Tops on all the time. Think about how much flex that would be to actually bust your t-tops. If that happened you would shatter your t-top every time you went over rail road tracks or a gradient.

I have heard of it being a issue with some targa top cars. My old delSol was a rattle trap and shops would pop the roof latches before lifting it. I had another one (delSol) that I was in a accident with the top off. I had to pound it on before the car was picked up by the tow truck.

I have heard about a t-top exploding when they took a turn too fast or something like that. I think it was a second gen though.
I remember hearing that the t-tops on 4th gens are pretty strong and actually fairly hard to break, don't quote me on that though.

Obviously, the design engineers knew the body was soft.
