It's possible to order a car new with odd combinations.

Check your RPO codes against the VIN to be sure. Also, someone may have changed the doors to the V6 type (possibly because the PW windows are such a big problem on this type of car).

If it is all stock it was ordered as a "stipper". This is to lower the overall weight of the car. Electric motors and soleniods are heavy. The alarm and steering wheel controls with windows and locks were "Prefered equipment group option 1".

I wanted crank window myself, but, this was not allowed on the SS. I made my choice for the SS.

My power windows are still working. They will not go as long as cranks will.

I've seen a stripper V6 car with no t-tops, crank windows, manual locks, steel wheels with covers, and leather interior. Can't remember what sort of radio was in it. It was a 2000-02 car, had black leather.

no power options means less to go wrong. the lightweight thing may have been true in the old days, but ive seen a couple things showing the modern power windows are lighter than the manual ones.

This is not a true statement.. i have a 1SC stripper SS with crank windows no power options and a hard top almost a 1LE minus the suspension which i have better than 1le stuff now... Just an FYI. And yes it was ordered that way by the original owner.. and yes its an SLP car i have the build number.

And it weighs 3300 lbs with no spare tire or jack! fully optioned SS = about 3500

My SS is a fully optioned T-top car with chrome ZR1s. I had it weighed last summer with spare tire & jack it weighed 3460. Thats with about 1/8 tank of fuel. I do have LTs & ORY, 3pt SFCs, adjustable torque arm with tunnel brace mount & safety loop. I dont know if removing the manifolds & cats lightened up the car but I would imagine the SFCs, TA & mount added some 50 lbs.

If you want I will edit this to the specific years that this was true (01-02).
No SS's without preferred equipment group. The OP 's car is an 02 so this rule applies.

Maybe it was 02 only. Unless I have a "copo" car. Mine is an 01. I know 1sc was an option on Z28's and it was the cop car option. But I do have documentation from SLP and it had the correct RPO codes for SS. Was a one owner car. I'm the second owner. It's def an interesting option package for what I have but it's all checked out. Works great for autox!

Quick Reply: why does my car have some upgraded options, then no power locks/windows?
