Default Yet another oil question...

So I just bought my wife a 98 Z28. The guy I bought it from says that he runs synthetic oil in it. Well, my wife doesn't race it or do anything to the point that she would need to run synthetic. So my question is, can I switch to conventional oil and be ok, or do I need to keep running synthetic since the previous owner had ran it?

I don't know why you would want to switch. Doesn't GM recommend running full synthetic? Honestly, I don't know if it is something you can do or not, but personally I wouldn't.

Oh, and not to be a dick, but this thread was about 4 down on the same page as yours... lol

Damn, I must have looked right over that. Well, I'm not sure if GM recommends it. But I just dont want to fork out the extra $ for it if not needed. I dont run synthetic in my 2000 Z28 and its cammed, everything seems to run fine there

Yes, you can switch with no problems.

If GM "recommended" synthetic, then why did they fill these cars from the factory with conventional oil?
