My '02 Z28 did this with the stock muffler at about 75k miles, random metallic rattle at certain rpms from the muffler area. I checked and re-checked the system several times and could not find any exterior points of contact. So I concluded that it had to be a baffle inside the muffler that was rattling. I replaced the muffler with an aftermarket one and the problem was solved.

That sounds exactly like how mine was. It was even worse when first starting to accelerate right after a cold start.

you sure it isnt the over axle tube touching a piece of the suspsension? I have adjusted my cat back 95 times but it does not seem that I will be able to keep it from touching 100 percent. It usually does it when taking off.

Well I know mine wasn't, because it was the stock catback. As for the OP, this is also a possibility if he hasn't checked it already.

As for your issue, I've had catbacks in the past where I was also unable to get the over-the-axle pipe to not bang against the upper panhard bar, no matter how many times I adjusted it. My solution was to drill and tap new holes in the frame and move the pipe hanger enough to provide the necessary clearance.

you could get a panhard bar relocation kit. my exhaust doesn't come close to hitting now. RPM WS6's solution would be the more cost effective though.

Who makes these? I've seen one before, but I can't recall the manufacturer. This probably would come in handy when running true duals over the axle....

i had a dynomax bullet that did this. i just drilled a screw in there to hold the baffle in place. problem solved. but that was just a easy fix until i redid my exhaust. maybe you can try it lol.

Theres like a heat shield on the top of where the I-pipe goes over axle.... If you put your hand over that pipe, im sure you'll see where its rubbing against.

Not if the problem is inside the muffler.

UMI brotha!

edit: it doesn't give any more room on the driver side, just passenger. i don't have true duals so i don't know if there are fitment issues with running over the driver side axle.
