I cant make the e-brake handle go straight up!! I'm getting super pissed here. I wanna remove the center console and in order to take it off I have to make the e brake handle go straight up. The only way to do this is to place a flat head screw driver in between the gear at the base of the handle and the small lil copper piece, because this is what supposedly makes the tick tick tick noise when you pull the handle up. I've been playing around with this piece of **** copper piece, placing the flat head screw driver at all different angels and no luck.
Any advice?

Hmmm.... It's been probably 10 years since I've removed a 4th gen center console, but I don't recall having any problems with it. You removed the e-brake handle, right? I don't remember having to get it perfectly straight up to pull the console, but again that was a decade ago....I'm getting old.
