I'm getting a good bonus from work this week! I have two mod plans in mind.
1. Get a Yank ss4000 stall
2. Get M/T et streets and a underdrive pulley. Then I would have all the bolt ons and good tires. I have some junk tires now. lol They were on the car when I bought it. They spin very bad with the 3.73's. What to do........

 

I vote option 1. Get the Yank SS4000 and you will love it.
Of course you will need good tires to hook but you can get them later.
A good TC is a must...

 

SS4000 FTW. It would be a whole new car. dont worry about the pulley until u do a cam, good time to do it since u have to take off the old one anyway. then get tires next as u will need them and watch those e.t.s plummet!

 

I vote for the stall which will make the car more fun to drive, but then again if you need tires.... I actually just bought some M/T's just for track use and put in the same stall about 2 months ago. Are you going to install the converter your self or pay a shop to install it?

 

I was thinking stall myself! A stalled auto is a blast to drive.

famous last words "doesnt look to hard to do" and really it aint to hard, if u dont mind taking ur exhaust apart, dropping the trans, and making sure when u put the new stall on u get just the right amount of clicks so u know its properly seated. i did an flt level 4 trans swap and did the stall at the same time at my buddies hot rod shop with him watching and guiding me to make sure i did it right. its painful but easy if u know what to do, thats the trick though.

 

Do the Stall man, then tires and like someone else said. Dont worry about the UD Pulley till you do a cam. You should also get the trans cooler? I believe thats what its called, when you do your new torque converter. I believe it helps prolong the life of your tranny with the new stall.

 

yeah, dont forget the trans cooler, u can actually order one from yank when u order the stall or just go to auto zone and find a cooler for a truck, that will work to.

I'm going to go against the grain here but I'm not sure how fun the stall will be with crappy tires. The ET Streets are fun on the road especially if you've been used to crappy tires.
So my thought is: get the tires and trans cooler now, along with everything else needed for the convertor install like fluid, tools, etc. Then get the stall when you get a little extra cash.

My car would dead hook until I put in the stall, now it still spins on Nitto drag radials...

 

if youre looking for a good ET youre going to need traction. if not get a stall. but id get tires and a stall together since youll need it. if not just get ETs and a stall later.

 

It would be much cheaper to get the tires now. Then stall when I have extra cash. Spinnin aint winnin. lol Car spins very bad now. Even at a 30 mph roll.

 

You could always get the stall, then hold off on installing it till you get some tires. If you can wait and are patient that is lol

 

Nope. I could never wait to install a new part. lol I wouldn't be able to sleep. All I would want to do is look at the new stall!!!

 

i vote the stall first then some good tires. thats what i did and i dont regret it one bit. Granted when i put the stall in with street tires it was impossible to run the car at the track so i just didnt take the car to the track till i got some tires. your call.

 

Isnt that a pretty damn big stall for what you have??? Or do you plan on getting cam or something soon?

 

I talked with Dave at Yank. He says the 4k stall would be great for bolt ons. I plan on a cam down the road.
