how do i find the build number of my car??

All cars basically have serial numbers. Its located in the VIN, arranged around the other mess of numbers and letters that stand for other stuff. As far as like the number in my sig, well that's bc its an SS like previously stated.

The reason is because the build number info was compiled and retained by the companies that did the conversions (SLP for SS/Firehawk, ASC for the WS6). People that have this information are not getting it from GM, it's from SLP/ASC, and those companies won't have any info on the cars they didn't touch.
On the other hand, you can get your build *date* from GM. Any dealer can run a VIS report for you that will list build date and all RPOs (option codes) for that car, by VIN.

well i look at that web page in the 2nd post & my car was built july 20th 2000. so pretty much i cant & wont find out if it #80 of the 20k + cars made or didnt i comprehend right

If you want something like, "mine is the 80th Z28 for 2001", well, you'll never get that sort of info. GM might retain it somewhere, but to the best of my knowledge they don't publish it.
