I went wot today from a light. Messing with a 5.0! Anyways, I had the car in 2nd somehow.(A4) It hit the rev limiter for maybe 3 seconds before I let off the gas. Is the engine going to be ok after this? Seems to run fine, no knock or smoke.

I've heard you can bend a push rod by hittin the rev limiter. Is that true?

if it is, i have 16 bent pushrods. ive bounced mine a lot!. havent hurt nothin yet.

A soft tap of the rev limiter shouldn't do that. Things start to bend and break when there's a serious mechanical overrev that puts you well beyond the rev limiter. This would only happen with an M6 car, like when going for 3rd gear at WOT and hitting first instead.

Yep, your auto should be fine. Definitely not good for it, but it will be ok.

i think the bent pushrod thing was a M6 deal where guys where banging through the gears and went to go 3rd to 4th and went from 3rd to 2nd causing the engine to over rev its *** off..
