Default How to repaint headers???

Hey guys I didnt really know where to put this so here it is. I might possibly be buying some Jet Hot longtubes from a guy. They are in good shape but he said the coating on them is in pretty rough shape. What is out there in the way of stuff to repaint headers? Im not looking to have them coated I dont think but what else it there?

You'd have to get some high temp paint... Or you could buy some header wrap.

The right way to do it is to paint them w/ high heat paint then bake them in a oven.

I've used 2000 degree spray paint on my stock manifolds. It has held up very good. Just be sure to prep well, and heat cycle to the proper specs for the paint to make sure it's baked/cured properly. With my paint I had to do certain heat/cool cycles by turning the car on/off and driving to make sure the paint baked on properly. As far as prep with my stock manifolds I just sprayed them with a ton of parts cleaner.

DONT wrap your headers. unless they are stainless and even then it is not a good idea. the wrap does a great job of retaining moisture and will cause your headers to rust. that and it is a HUGE PITA to do right. use black header paint and follow the instructions. if done right they will chalk up, but just wipe the residue off and you will be left with a nice, flat, finish. its like it stains the metal. and it lasts quite a while. make damn sure you prep them very well. i mean really really well. its as important as curing them properly.

I just did mine actually. They were pretty bad. I explained it a little bit in my thread.
