Default 2010 gmc 1500 4.8

Just bought this truck and it has the 4wd manual shifter. it goes starting from the top 4wd low - neutral - 2wd - 4wd high. When it is in 4wd high the transmission/transfercase is very loud can hear the chain moving basically and when i go around corners the inside wheel likes to skid like the rear end is locked up. I though that should only happen in 4wd low?

Any one clear this up for me? I do not like the fact that its loud when i am in 4wd sounds like something is going to break!

It may only be a part-time 4WD system, meaning it can only be used on loose surfaces such as gravel, dirt, snow, ect. If you use a part time system on pavement, it will cause tire screeching and possibly damage the system.

Check your owner's manual to see what kind of system you have and what its appropriate use is.

I've only had it in 4wd going up and down a dirt drive way, thats when i noticed the transfer case noise. Was wondering if anyone experienced the same.
