i'm looking at doing some work in the future to my 07 silverado and i was wondering how strong are the internals of the 4.8L?

i know that the motor will last as long as my diesel with maintenance(500k+mi), but that's with it being stock. which this engine won't be.

i plan on installing a vortech supercharger, cam, heads, and either a ls6 intake manifold or a F.A.S.T. intake manifold. i'm expecting to run somewhere around 500hp at flywheel. possibly more depending on the setup.

i really want to do a 4.8L. i'm trying to stay away from stroking the crank out.

Swap in 6.0 and sell the 4.8 if your looking to get decent power numbers without a high stress combo, I also doubt that youd get 500k from a stock 4.8

You can get 1,000,000 miles out of a 4.8. If you keep dumping money into it.

I just sold a 5.3 that had over 300k miles that still ran good so 500k is possible with good preventive maintenance and probably a timing chain or two.
