GTOs are pricey to fix as well. However when a large number of parts is purchased, say a clip or something, its pretty well cheap lol
When i see adds for "Selling cheap rebuilt title GTOs or even F bodies" i am in awe of how much profit they are making, or at least what people consider cheap for a rebuilt.
However it takes too long to flip a rebuilt title car regardless of the price, well for my tastes as well otherwise that would be my main source of income haha

I flip cars and sell them. During the summer I make $320-$350 a week though.
This is my project right now..

To answer the original question, just about everything Corvette is ridiculously expensive, whether you're talking body work or mechanical, especially compared to f-bodies. My roommate's '97 C5's TPS went out. He had to replace the whole throttle body since it's drive-by-wire. $400 for that. Replaced a leaking output shaft seal in the transaxle. $100+ just for the seal! He's currently doing bodywork on a wrecked 94 he acquired. Gluing those panels on is a nightmare. I can imagine why a shop would charge an arm and a leg for that kind of work. By comparison, f-bodies are probably the cheapest performance car to maintain.

The front needs some heat gun work and adjusting.. every body shop wants 1000's to fix it.

I buy the clutch... Found an LS7 for 459.00 + shipping from SDPC.. The guy said I should get a master and slave with it thats another 200. He is charging 325.00 to put the clutch..
Honestly the clutch is nothing compared to the body work. The lowest quote I got was 2k from a shop out of town.. The highest 3500.00 not including the current dmg I did to the car today trying to tow it.

I make just enough to pay my bills. I am lucky to put away $50 a month, which basically pays for 2 tires a year, wiper blades, and 4 oil changes...without putting anything in to the old savings account. Hope the kid gets a scholarships! Sounds like even a fender bender would blow my budget.

Yeah I'm 17, no bills or anything. I work at a body shop too so that **** doesn't cost anything, I only have $500 into it for bodywork so far and another $500 when it's painted, I am so stingy with my money too. During school I just sell cars and don't restore them since I don't have the time. When you make like $800 a car with no bills it adds up pretty quick. I profited $3,000 off the black car in my sig.
Go to the regional forum at the bottom and see if anyone can recommend a local shop. Hell even make a trip through the ghetto and see if you can't find a good shop. That's where all the deals are.

if you complain about the price of a clutch install, do not buy a vette, a clutch install is shown here.
way more than taking the trans out and replacing the clutch. The clutch and hydrolics are the same cost for the 2 vehicles.

Except that even with a newer car and a warranty if the clutch goes out on the newer car it won't be covered either. Clutch replacement is like brakes, light bulbs or anything else that simply wears out. Its just part of owning any car.
