Just curious because I find it insane that for my camaro to get back on the road it would cost about 4k to put a new clutch in, replace the SS Hood and some of the front from the tow line snaping today.
Yes, I have called just about every place in town.

An SS hood at Certifit is like $230, I wouldn't pay more than that as F-Body body parts are cheaper than dirt. How much are they charging you to actually put in the clutch? What exactly broke on the front? As I said all those parts are cheap for Camaros.

I buy the clutch... Found an LS7 for 459.00 + shipping from SDPC.. The guy said I should get a master and slave with it thats another 200. He is charging 325.00 to put the clutch..
Honestly the clutch is nothing compared to the body work. The lowest quote I got was 2k from a shop out of town.. The highest 3500.00 not including the current dmg I did to the car today trying to tow it.

That sounds about right the clutch should come with the pressure plate and flywheel too. And the body work isnt just for a F body or corvette its just body work in general now a days. When I wrecked my T/A it had a small crack in the bumper, headlight was broken, and the hood was scratched and the total was around $3200 for the repair and parts, MOSTLY being the labor for the paint and prep work. My friends saturn that he DD'ed got backed into in a parking lot and scratched the end of the bumper and it was around $500 to prep and repaint it.
And for the hood check out VFN fiberglass, I got my WS6 hood from them for around 450 shipped in a group purchase (which they normally do alot of them on here)

That's a shitload of money for a clutch swap though, it only cost $500 for them to rebuild the whole transmission in my 80 Trans Am, they pulled it out and everything. Try and find some mom and pop place, they had me in and out in I think the next day or something ridiculous.

My wreck was 4-5 years ago so the car was worth 15-17 K so I wanted to get it fixed right, but if the car is only worth 5-6 K you might want to check around for used parts. My $3200 was all brand new OEM GM parts
And retardedpenguin what all did $250 get? were the parts new? used? does that include body work and paint? I only paid my $500 deductible but the receipt from the bodyshop was $3200 w/ parts and labor.
Sure you can get your whole car painted at maaco for $200 dollars and it will look good but its all in what you want. When it comes down to it paint/body repair is a specialized trade. It takes skill and training to properly blend colors to account for fading and wear. I know a couple of years ago all the shops that I was looking into was 90-120/hr for labor.

if you complain about the price of a clutch install, do not buy a vette, a clutch install is shown here.
way more than taking the trans out and replacing the clutch. The clutch and hydrolics are the same cost for the 2 vehicles.

Honestly there isn't much of a difference between those big shops an a Maaco, except the price and the paint is a little better but a lot of it is made by the same company. Some place wanted $8,000 just to paint my chevelle without bodywork and almost fainted. Of course it's going to look better but not that much better to justify the price. I bet I could put two of those cars together and you would have a hard time telling the difference. You get what you pay for but **** dude, no wonder those shops aren't busy.

$250 for everything. I got a used fender and new headlight cover, fender was only $20. We used plastic bonder for the bumper crack. I work at a bodyshop so that is why it was cheap, but even for a normal person no more than $500.

Also you went through the insurance company so they most likely charged them more, every time an agent comes in I can see the dollar bills in my bosses eyes. I don't have full coverage so I had to do it all myself. I know I am stupid but I only make $140 a week and full coverage would be $400 a month so yeah..
I wanted to use all OEM parts but I couldn't find anything. The only bumper I found was 400 miles away so I had to make due with what I had. The wreck wasn't bad at all but all the brackets were bent to ****. It was kind of neat watching the headlight cover soar through the air.
I just want people to know there are places out there that do a good job at a good price. I was quoted $1500-$1800 for my transmission but I found one guy that did it for $500. Places like that are still out there.
