The 2001-2004 LS1 in a Vette & F-Body have nice upgrades over the 1997-2000.
1) Better Rod Bolts.
2) NO EGR
3) They use the better LS6 Intake on all '01 and up LS1 motor's.
So you end up with a stronger, unit with the better LS6 free flowing air intake.
4) The Fuel Injection system on it's own can support a cam and heads upgrade if you decide, and tho these engines can sing to over 6500 RPM, the car can be tuned to shift at max power with an upgraded Cam/ Heads, which depending on the setup would be fine up to 62-6500 RPM.
(Mine shifts at 6250. Doesn't need to go any higher with my setup, so lengthen's bottom end longevity).
The Z06 question has already been addressed, and I agree.
Along with the fact that you can find a low mileage babied C5 easily.
JMO, but any ad without the miles listed, usually means high miles.
Great car's, but more sophisticated than an F-Body, so I'd look for under 50k as you will be putting your own miles on it also.
Oh, and Check for Repaired Wrecks, Salvage titles up front! Accept No storie's please![Secret2](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/secret.gif)

Depends on what the mileage is (looking at the driver's seat, I'm thinking it's probably high). Vengeance is a pretty good shop, so the mods were likely done right the first time. I'd imagine it being a '98 and an auto is what kills the price, but if the mileage isn't bad, I don't see any reason not to go for it.

Well. Do this....
Tell us what the mileage is on the car. Does he have all the paperwork? Next, look underneath the side rocker panels for damaged. Next go to the front of the car and look under the front bumper. You will see two brackets for the radiator. Check for cracks or any type of damage. These places show where the owner was careless and hit curbs, ect. What about the tires? Old, new, tread life? All things to look at when negotiating. What about the fluids, were they flushed recently? Is it a one car owner? What about the targa top. Does it leak? Look at carpet for stains. Also look at the pads and rotors. If they need replacing, its an easy DIY...but another negotiation poit. Also, run the diagnostics in the car by holding down Options and clicking Fuel four times. See if any codes throw up. If so, post them or PM me and I can help you decipher what it is or if you have any other questions

Yes he has the paper work. and it will be saturday before i go to see it. He claims it has new drilled/slotted rotors and new pads. tires are decent. Just emailed him about the tops leaking or not, fluids, # of owners, etc..
It does have high miles on the body. 109xxx and when i go check it out i will get codes and get back with you.
I have found newer models that look prestine but are 100% stock. I wouldnt mind having something stock (for the wife) but it would be nice to have sommething already modded at a decent price. I wish the wife could drive a stick. lol.
From what he told me on the phone is the windshield wipers act up sometimes. He said they only go about halfway up then back down real fast. and its an intermentant problem. thoughts?

Any car is a great, reliable car until it starts to get modded. You said you just wanted a good cruiser, so you don't need all that forged nonsense. It doesn't matter if God himself 'mods the car-reliability always starts to drop as the 'mods increase. Stick to your original cruiser idea, unless you want a car you have to tinker with from time to time, not to mention appease a wife who you know just won't get it...
