64000. I have always had problems with this dealer and the next closes one is an hour away. But now the cats are gutted

Why the heck did you gut the cats?? It's an 08 Malibu, not a 93 Honda.

Because I don't have the 517 bucks for the replacement cat yes tere is 2 on the car and the main one is built into the header so I had to gut it because chevy wouldn't warranty the part and I don't have that kind if money

Do you live in CA? If not, I'm sure you can get aftermarket cats that are much cheaper than OEM cats. They won't have as much metal in them so they won't last as long, but they'll definitely work for you for a few years.

Another thing, I'm not too familiar with the new Malibu so I have to ask, does it have 4 O2 sensors? (2 post cat, 2 pre cat)

Its not just a gm warranty its a federal emissions warranty by law. You don't have to take it to a chevy dealership you can take it to any gm branded dealership.

I live in in florida. Since the cat is gutted I'm pretty sure Im on my own now and no dealership will cover it. I know I have done O2 deletes on my TA its the same concept right. Just get a scan tool and delete the O2 sensors from the PCM
