Default 2000 z28 camaro insurance

I have a 2000 Z28 Camaro & am turning 16 soon. My mom called her insurance company to see how much insurance would be...& they say that "EVERYONE MUST HAVE OVER 10 YRS DRIVING EXPERIENCE TO INSURE A Z28/SS/TRANS AM(V8)". Im really pissed about this, I expected my premiums to be high, but not uninsurable. So if anyone who had a V8 sports car for their 1st car would, let me know if they have ever heard of this..

^^^ What this guy said. Find a new insurance company. Sounds like they just don't want to cover you.

I myself bought and insured a brand new 1993 Z28 when I was 20 years old. I remember my premium back then was about $112 a month for full coverage.

the 10 years of driving experience sounds like a load of BS they were giving you. Call State Farm, call Farmers, call all of them and get estimates from all of them and pick the one with the best prices and coverage.

I am a Lic Property & Casuality Agent and what I can tell you from personal experience is that all companies set their own guidelines. I am sure they have had some risk/claims in the past and its now a rule.

My company which has ties with AARP has rules that do not allow for Camaro/Firebirds/Mustangs/Vipers/Porsche if they come through the door as new business polices BUT down the road they can add these restricted vehicles.

Have your mom start calling or getting internet quotes, hit ALL the major companies. Have her get herself established, then insure the Camaro Prior to you coming on board with a driver lic. She will pay through the nose for a 16 yr old male with a VERY risky vehicle but thats life.

Check out Geico, or those local insurance agency's for illegals, that ought to work. They'll insure anybody! Just they may not be there when you need them...

I'd suggest picking up a pos vehicle to put you on as a main driver, and list the camaro under a parent as a pleasure vehicle. I'm 20, had the camaro for 3 years, only paying a little over $50 a month for full coverage

I had a v6 camaro when I was 16 and stepped up to the TA when I was 18. The insurance didn't really change that much. Turns out they don't like me, not the car

Bought a New 2000 Z28 in my early 20's. USAA insured it without an issue.

Yeah this all happened 5+ years ago, a new thread should be started for any recent insurance questions.

But since it's back up....

This was definitely not the case for State Farm when I was younger. Granted, this was two decades ago, but I had no issues insuring a V8 F-body (3rd gen) with less than 4 years of driving experience through them. And my record wasn't perfect at that time either.
