if anyone was wondering i went and looked at the camaro and it was really rough for only having 40k, it had no filter and the maf screen was REALLY bad lol, long story short i went with a procharged GTO instead

Why do these threads always get needlessly complicated? An LS1-era Camaro SS will be a WU8 car. RPO code WU8 = car is an SS. No WU8 = not an SS. It is really that simple.
Now, if the RPO sticker is missing: run away.
If the RPO sticker looks reapplied or otherwise played with: run away.
Really simple.

These "real SS or not" threads are getting old. There are so many threads with the answer to this question, that even the most generic search terms should give you the answers you need.
