Default Ls1 to ls6 swap

whats up guys just wanted some feedback here.... i have an old tired ls1.. so i've found a shop with a ls6 laying around from a cts-v... so they are going to tear down the ls6 machine it out put new piston rings in it ect.. and swap out the engines, shorty headers and a tune for 3800 do you guys think that a decent deal???

And i want to make sure i have a least 400 hp to the wheels after all this is done.. So whats better than the stock ls6 zo6 cam, And still CA legal??

Well, a local shop quoted 1500 bucks for an LS2 install.

So, I suppose for a freshened up LS6 for 2300.... I don't know if that's the BEST deal going. Seems average?
I could be wrong..

I have an Ls1 with LS6 Intake, Z06 heads and Z06 cam with ARH LT's, catted Y pipe, into a magnaflow catback and I dyno'd 360hp/360trq at the wheels.

I would go with Thunder Racing's new V.3 cam. I believe it is the cam that kind of replaced their old cheatr cam. It makes better HP and is a smog friendly cam with stock like manners. I thought I read a thread where someone installed it in their bolt on LS1 and gained about 30+HP at the wheels. I'm not sure if you'll have 400rwhp with the shorty headers.

I know full bolt on 2002-2004 Z06's put down 380-390ish to the wheels and with the V.3 cam in one I'd think it would put it over the 400rwhp mark as the v.3 makes more power than the LS6 cam. But you are going to have shorty headers and cats. Nevertheless it should be somewhere around 400rwhp.

they are saying the v3 cheatr is boarderline for sniffer. hopefully someone will chime in from TR, if it will pass that will def be a improvement over the ls6 cam. Geoff at eps will you get you as close to where you need to be, i think he is in cali so he should be familiar wit that. but a GT2-3 cam will make a little better numbers than the stock ls6 and def pass the sniffer. port the 243s, a fast 90 intake, UD pulley, a lid and a 85mm MAF good tune, a good dyno and your there. with out LTs and that type of cam its gonna take every bell and whistle especially if you keep those 243s.

Aren't the LS6 engines rated at 405 from the factory? Do you have any other mods besides shorty headers and a tune? I would think that after factoring the drive train loss that you would be lucky to get 400, but at the same time if you were under you would not be very far off from the 400 maybe 380's.
