Finally Pickin up a car!
I finally found a car that I wanted and picking it up Friday if all goes well! it's a 2000 red trans am. Black leather 6-speed and it's 2 hours from me. It's bone stock and the guy who owns it works at a detail shop so he said it's always waxed and taken care of. he said there isn't a thing wrong with it and he said he'll hold the car for me! Only has 105k on it. Not bad for $7400! gonna order headers and TSP true Duals with spiral flows in a month! I've waited 8 years to own one of these cars I'm very excited and nervous. Hopefully the car is as nice as he says it is! I'll get pics as soon as I can.

Would have been nice to get a car with lower miles, especially after waiting 8 years! While many of these cars can last 200,000 miles, they will need work after that 100k miles mark. Hopefully the seller has documented repair bills and a nice maintenance history. Being 'bone stock' is probably a good sign that it wasn't abused but look it over well. A detail shop can masquerade many issues. If any questions once you get there, walk away unless you have paid for it already. Good luck! Hope it turns out to be a nice one.

Yea I found it on craigslist. and all the cars I'm seeing are goin for $10k+ plus with 60k miles. I don't mind the miles. long as it runs good. And 100k. Figured all the major maintenance issues would of been taken care of by then. well c. 7400 is about all I can afford so I'm goin for it. It's gonna b my weekend car only. I have a Jimmy as my dd. And I have an hour drive to work. Last thing I wanna do is hit a deer in it. As long as I'm happy with it right?

thats a good price for a 6 speed. 105 is not alot. just make sure all the fluids have been changed recently. Look it over real good and look for gaps that shouldn't be there. Hear the motor after it's been warmed up also. these cars are notorious for ticking.
sounds like a good buy. post pics when you get it!!!!!

I'm with the rest on passing it up. Of course, you are going to do what you want to do, but I would shop around a bit more. You can find one with less miles for around that price. Plus, see if you can find a 2001-02. Just my .02 cents.

Yea I thought the same thing. I couldn't find a 6-speed trans am for a good price to save my life. I had to talk him down from $8500 to $7400. So Id say I did alright. and I'll def post pictures. And to be on the safe side i think I'll just go ahead and change all the fluids for peace of mind. How wonder how much that'll run me. I prolly won't drive it until march but still.....

See deals on 2000-2002 Z28/Firebird/WS6 cars every month up in the Seattle area going for $4500-$8000. Just nearly bought a clean, never driven in the rain garage queen 2000 green Z28 w/leather interior and 42,000 miles that sold for $4600 a few miles from my house. Would have bought it for a DD but couldnt get past the color (brother and wife liked the color, but they aint gotta live with it as a DD).
Last fall I turned down a 2002 WS6 w/ 60+k miles and full boltons/ported TB n Intake/3.73 gears that a friend of a friend sold for $6,000. Just keep looking! Buying a car with mods already installed is not a deal breaker IF you can find someone who knows him or a forum that has guys that know him and can vouche for his driving/care taking of his car.
For instance, I would be VERY surprised if anyone that knows me on this forum (Kill Section Guys) would ever vouch for my GTO being "driven mildly". lol

for 7400, its not a bad deal, esp with the M6. Just make sure everything checks out, use any defects to your advantage to further talk him down. If its clean clean, then 104k miles is still not bad lots of life left.
I got my previous M6 Z at 94k mi drove it to 113k with absolutely no problems, just stupid little things like window motor, faded interior pieces(headliner, visors, etc) and just normal maintanence. I didnt rip the car a new one, but I wasn't nice to it either

Where is it at? Somebody here on tech may be close to it and MIGHT be willing to go check it out before you go all the way out there. Just a thought.

well i just talked to the guy on the phone for the first time, most of our communication has been over text message cuz of our scheduals. but he said the tranny fluid was replaced this past summer, the collant was flushed right before winter, the diff fluid hasnt been changed. he is the second owner, he baught it from a dealer, which he has the maintenance reports. he said the dealer had to replace the rear end in it because we all kno how reliable they are. both window motors have been replaced, he said they went out on him 2 days after he baught the ca. ttops do not leak. the paint is in good shape minus a few paint chips on the hood and a 1/2 inch scratch on the fender thats had touch up paint on it. engine and tranny need nothing. he said the car drives straight and no vibrations. sounds like a pretty good deal.
