According to a quick google search it seems that LS1's are made at St. Catharines Engine plant in Ontario, And im pretty sure the GTO's were fully assembled in Australia, so maybe thats what he meant.

Strange.....esp figuring the standards they are built by probably come from the states. The complex that the Impala is made at(same as the Camaro) is said to be the biggest car assy complex in the world. I think you guys should be more worried about all the "made in china" **** americans buy/sell......

The only thing "American" about these cars is the brand name. Most of the parts Ive taken off were made in Mexico, and the car itself is manufactured in Canada, so not really all that "American" as a whole.

This is true, St. Catharines, Ontario for the assembly of the LS1. Basically made on the border of Canada/USA. St. Catharines is like 30 minutes away from states.

Right on, learn something new everyday.. Does anyone know how to tell if their LS1 was made in Canada or US?

If thats not the truth, I swear now a days "imports" are more American then what American auto manufactures are producing. My parents just bought a ford fusion and only like 30 % of it was made in the USA, the rest was outsourced. And last time I was at a Toyota dealership they were right around 70-80 % made in America. So it seems like in most cases buying foreign supports jobs here more then buying America.

Who cares where some of the profits are going, there still making the cars here and employing US workers. Most of these companies have complete US divisions so a lot of the money is being reinvested here. When you buy a GM or Ford think about where the money is going? To Mexico or Canada to make the product, then to the U.S. to pay executes salaries? Just sayin the global environment that most of these companies operate in is not as black and white as where the company originated.

I live in a town near Indy that makes Toyota parts. That said-Toyota is the vehicle that is most made in America not most American made if you know what I am saying!! 90% of there employees are Asian who all drive nice cars because they don't pay tax on there home or vehicle and most of the non Asian people that do work there drive 20+ year old American vehicles. When GM sold out and gave there employees the option to move to Mexico how many you think went? None. "Buy American and we can rebuild buy foreign(TOYOTA ETC.) and we will be owned by them sooner than most realize.Sorry if I **** anyone off. Move.

The first two numbers are plant code the three letters are engine model the next numbers are year and Julian date and the last numbers are the production sequence.
St. Catharines Glendale is Plant 10.
Very few LS1's were made in Romulus because the workers could give a flying "you-know-what" about their quality and performance. Early Z__ motors were produced there but Bowling Green rejected them for poor quality control. St. Catharines has their hands full meeting the customer requirments for quality but the workers have developed a great attitude to preserve their jobs and hopefully they will keep the contracts for years to come.
Fortunately, the aptitude and apathy of those south of the U.S. border and the fact that the workers will never purchase what they produce will keep the jobs in US and CAN.
Hope that's helpful...
