This is why I was completely obsessed with checking those things when I had my car. I took the top out a lot so I checked them almost every time I got in the car. At least it didn't hit a car or a person or anything.

Great, now I'm paranoid. When everybody says they "forget to lock them" you guys mean that you forget to turn the latch, right? Not forget to lock it with they key? Because I usually don't bother locking them with the key.

*Phew* Ok, I always latch them as I'm putting them back on, I'll try not to be paranoid about it. I'm still gonna check the metal plates on mine though.

Good, I was paranoid too. Buddy lost one in a Firehawk about 3 years ago. Must be a pretty common problem. I pay close attention to mine now.
