I'm just browsing cars.com, autotrader, yahoo auto's - to get a feel for what these things go for
definitely can get a decent example around $20k - regardless if its Z06 or not
would be looking at 2002-2004
I had no idea that Z06 came with fixed roof, or aluminum frame ... prone to breaking/damage? don't Lotus's also have a mix of alimunim for frame? can't be good if the car was in an accident
appears that cars in $20k range have miles in 60-100k - not exactly "low mileage", but much cheaper then ones with 30-60k miles - Z06's that is
looks like there are a few base C5's in $15-20k with nice miles - 40-60k - but a lot of them are Auto's
thanks guys

While there is a extensive amount of aluminum used in the suspension the chassis is all steel. Only the C6 Z is aluminum.

Pull the trigger on a well-maintained C5Z. The mileage won't be as important as the maintenance.
The C5Z is hands-down the best bang-for-buck sports car out there right now. Cam + bolt-ons = 450ish rwhp in a 3100lb package made to race. Upgrade the tires and maybe brakes and you have a weekend race car that you can drive to work on Monday.
