Default high mileage????

Is 100,000 miles high for these cars? Say they have been treated good and maintained to an average level, is this kind of mileage something to worry about?

Looking at a 2002 m6 ws6 convertible with that mileage. All of these cars up here in canada seem to have very low mileage (60000 or less) so I have no idea how these cars age above that mileage.

Shoudn't be an issue but if you want to spend a little money to buy a little insurance on the car go ahead and change at least the oil pump on the car that way you don't have to worry about one with higher mileage to go out on you.
Just a thought..

i had 108k on my 2000z28, and i beat on that thing since i bought it with 78k. it ran just the same as the day i bought it to the day i sold it. never leaked any oil, never had any issues at all with it.

That is the key. How were they maintained and who owned it? In general, 100,000+ miles cars need something. Not always, but most likely. Don't spend every last dollar you have to buy one because you will need some $$ for repairs or upkeep sooner than later. Do NOT pay top dollar (retail) for one of these 100,000+ miles cars. Still too many to choose from with lower, and non-abused miles.

Yeah it all depends on how they were maintained. They can last for a very long time or go out with only 37k miles on it like mine did

Yea man, I know two people who have bought high mileage f-bodies. I would be careful buying a high mileage 6 speed because people in general are not nice to these cars. I dunno about some of the members here that are have high mileage f bodies, maybe they're just having good luck...

others have said put a new oil pump on it and timing chain, you might as well put a cam on it while you're at it, which will cost another few thousand in parts/labor/ect...

you can get it cheeper in with 100k. if the car is maintaned the only prob will be resale value. you wont get close to what a 50 or 80k will get. my has 72000kms on it and i dont want to put too much millage on it but i am keeping it forever. my car had little rust on rear tealing arm brakets in the seem be carefull for this with 100km. i think its comon. i just grinded it panted and rustproffed. like crazy.

I dont consider 100k on these cars a lot at all...but it all depends on how the car was taken care of

And just to add to this, my dad's tahoe has about 225k miles, so if his can last that long, why can't the LS1?

100k is nothing, my car has 180k miles now ive owned it since 80k ive made well over 400 passes at the dragstrip, i race any car or truck that gets next to me and i cannot help but to do 5500 rpm burnouts everytime i run across any water, my car is full bolt ons now and runs mid 12s im getting ready to cam it soon, my last camaro was running strong at 222k miles before i sold it and i drove the hell out of it to.

Not only that, and this will come as a real shock to some 'racers' out there, but some owners or potential buyers of these cars want an accident free car, no dents, no paint issues, want the a/c and heat to work, the power windows to work, the headlights on T/A's to function properly, and even a clean interior with no rips or tears, or oil stains on the carpet. Cars with over 100k miles may have an issue or two and I doubt many exist that can meet all of the above criteria. If you want a race car, go get the 100k miles car, but it does not apply to everyone. Many 'lookers' are reading these posts with all different needs, from DD use to drag strip use, from FL to Canada (which is why a/c and heat are mentioned respectively) and need informative answers. One size does not fit all.

171,000 miles here and still running strong car is a full bolt on's with a 228r cam and has the 125 shot just for fun. The camaro is my DD and it see's the track 2 times a year. Only thing to give me a problem since I have owned was the maf, switched it out with a new and runs like a champ.
