We are basically saying the same thing but using different terminology. Can we agree on that????
As an example: We are saying because you are fat you can't run as fast, you are saying the increased load to your muscles is why you are slower. That would make us both technically correct.

Well not really, back pressure is bad no matter what way you look at it. If you could increase exhaust velocity without increasing back pressure you'd be ahead of the game, which you can do (coating/wrapping the headers/exhaust keeps the heat in which keeps the exhaust moving faster).

sooo, whats the perfect combo?
Lt's, ory, catback?
Lt's, highflow cat, catback?
or some other combo?
Sorry, but i get way too many conflicting stories

this guy uses open headers for the track, & a sweet setup an runs low 11's

Me personally, I think y pipes make ls1 cars sound like ******* boats. I wouldn't run a y pipe on a twin cyl lawn mower. It's duals or I'm getting a different car...I hate y pipes that much.
Sweet thunders are great, dynomax race bullets are great, single chamber flows are ok if you like the flowmaster tone.
I don't have the space constraints of a f body so I run dual Flowtech Terminators which have a unique but good tone IMO...kinda like a cross between flowmasters and old school turbo mufflers. Deep and rumbly but slight hints of aggressive rasp/metallic ting at high rpm rev and with 3" duals in and dumped at the axle I now get zero gain from opening my cutouts on the collectors so they have to flow well.

Left one is with the spray on coating, right is without (to see the difference).
Don't pay attention to the dirty *** engine bay

Man... that makes me wish I would have just went ahead and wrapped mine. May have to do that later if everything comes apart down the road for one reason or another...ahem heads/cam...

It's not very fun to do, to be honest. Pretty annoying work and you're very itchy by the time you're done.
I used Thermo-tec's graphite black wrap which you don't wet before putting it on, the white stuff you do and I've read that that is even more annoying.

That's what I used. I ordered 200ft and used most of it IIRC.
I also got a couple cans of this:

And one of these kits:

An alternative to wrapping is ceramic coating.
The tradeoff between wrapping and coating is time-vs-money.
Either way, keeping heat more contained has two direct benefits:
- avoiding heat loss maintains exhaust gas velocity;
- avoiding heat loss allows NBO2's to run at operating temp.
