4th Gen LS1 MPG's?
#81
I have a M6 with 4.11's in a 12 bolt and get 18 mpg city shifting at under 2500 rpm. I get 25 mpg highway with the cruise set at 78 mph with the t-tops out. When I had 3.42's I got 28 mpg highway with the tops out. Best I got was a good tail wind coming home from Montana. I had a fuel run in Wisconsin 78 mph with the tops out and got just under 31 mpg. The best I ever got with the 4.11's is 27 mpg.

The best I have ever seen with my M6 car all highway (car is stock) 27.5 mpg hwy (cruise set at 70 MPH)
I guess if I would drive all highway at 60 MPH then 29 mpg could happen but who wants to drive that slow on the interstate?

If you drive on San Antonio highways during the day, you may as well count it as city driving.
I pretty consistently get right under 22mpg all the time, almost completely irregardless how I drive. Still better mpg than my Marauder got, and is much faster to boot.

My previous and current f-body (both M6s with full bolt ons, everything else stock) both average(d) about 17-19 MPG combined (bout 240 miles a tank). This is probably 60/40 city/highway, not beat on but not babied either. I would say this is what a normal average driver should expect. But these cars can do better. On a trip back from Texas 98% highway at 75mph with tops off I managed to average 26mpg. The 6th gear is such a good gas saving gear, it really is up to how much highway driving you do and how hard you drive.

Since I posted this I picked up the 98. It's getting 14.4 average City/Highway and that's not really getting on it much. The car is putting down 310hp and 320 lb. ft. of torque to the wheels per my Dyno run last week. Any recommendations to boost my MPG? Just cleaned/re-oiled my K&N.

One tip I learned the hard way did have to deal with the K&N. I know it's pretty common knowledge on the forums here and judging by how long you've been here my post will probably be useless haha. But when I was younger I always over oiled the K&N not knowing any better. All the extra oil built up on the MAF but with a good cleaning it was all back to normal.
Also, depending on how bad the city driving is, those numbers seem reasonable for an A4. I'm an M6 and when I drive in the city it's really stop n go with a lot of lights. Shifting under 2K the whole tank, best I've managed is 14mpg. I'm also all up to date on the maintenance and can pull 29mpg on the freeway so it's all in the situation.
Depending on how many miles, could clean the top end with some of the MCCC (mopar combustion chamber cleaner) I think that's what it stands for haha. Plugs and wires are a possibility too.
Best of luck
edit: misread the sig, saw the A4 is sold and M6 is present. I'd suggest trying what 1996 and I have said. Personally, I'd go with the MCCC over the seafoam from all the threads I've read on here, but thats just IMO.

Thanks guys. Plugs and plug wires are on the list as I am unsure when they were changed last. I just oiled my K&N filter last week with the normal amount of oil (just 'til it turns red as stated). I used to work for Mopar, and I still work for a Jeep parts company, so I contacted my buddy at the dealer I worked at to see if he's heard of this MCCC stuff. I personally haven't, but if they have it or can get it, I get it at cost which is nice. I just started trying the low RPM shifts. Damn skip shift is still on my car and it's causing me to grind now and then as I forget. I usually wind out my RPM's to 3-5K before shifting, but we'll see how the sub 3K stuff works out. I know I get approx 200-225 miles out of the tank before the gauge hit's "E" (I know there's more gas in the tank, but this is the average miles out of my tank that I use each time I fill up).

Best ever, when the car was stock, was about 33mpg. Night driving, flat highway with no traffic, cruise control at 65mph.
Normally 10-12mpg city, 22-27mpg highway. Gotta love ethanol (gag).

With my mods I usually average about 17-19, if I get into a few highway tussles usually about 15, My long trips I get 27 all highway, thats with 3.90's and a full spool 9inch. They get decent gas mileage for what they are.
