I worked at Advance Auto for 4 years and now I manage a major tire retailer and I see more Optima batteries come back for warranty work than standard batteries. IDK if people are running them dead with stereo systems or what, but they seem to fail a lot.

I had an Exide orbital select (AGM) that lasted almost 8+years, finally started to get weak so I tried to get another but Kragen did not carry them any longer so I thought I would try a new Red Top... Took the red top home and just my luck... it was NFG right off the shelf... took it back and got a regular battery... I know Optimas are supposed to be great batteries, but that left a bad taste in my mouth for them now.. Too expensive to be no good off the shelf.. It would not take a charge at all...

I've had the red top in my TA for over six years now, and who knows how long it was in the car before I bought it. It just recently started to lose it's charge when sitting for two+ weeks. On the other hand, I put a yellow top in my GTO, and it was bad within eight-ten months. Replaced it under warranty and it's been good for a year and a half now.
