Default SS scoop functionality
about how much air flows through it?

what about the one aftermarket hood thats like the SS but the scoop is 3" tall?

SS hood gets air in there @ 50mph or more so it does help a little but the free ram air mods helps more !

your best bet imo is to get some sort of ram air kit.stock SS hoods arent that effective.

what made me think about it is that it seems like trans coolers are placed right in the way, and i'm sure air gets through but not as much

the way the air has to circle around leads me to think its not a great design.


id just go with some kind of ram air kit.

+1 for the under body ram air kit. Can drop up to .2 if properly sealed

is that still able to exist in front of the radiator if the trans cooler is to go there? i wont want to mount it dope style.

If you seal the hood to the airbox it is very effective. It's worth 1+ mph at the track. I tried several different ways on a test and tune and sealed hood made the most mph. Under body ram air is real dirty air.

No pics. Autozone carries some nice oem looking weather strip that I used. I opened up the holes a bit on the hood also. All you have to do is put the ws around the perimeter of the holes. I used the factory seal on the bottom that slips over the pinch weld.

Put the cooler underneath the passenger side floorboard where the hump is right in front of the lever that moves the seat foward and backwards, under the car that is...that's where mine is, works great, but I do have a big cooler with a fan.
