My 9yrs of mods= $7427(worth every $ - not for sale)
I've never totaled it up until today. I was curious.
Sure I could've bought gold, but this was way more fun,,, and still is!
'02 Z28 new: just under $30,000 .... with mods $37,427 invested so far.
Out of curiosity, resale value $10,800 hahaha who cares, not selling!
Mods listed in actual sequence over 9 yrs. Only spent $ on performance (except sound dampening) Just my DD, never raced (except when no one was looking )
Haven't spent money on rims. Haven't done heads yet. All labor was yours truly. (except 4.11 gears & CNC TB porting) Car has only 56K miles as I was away overseas working alot.

I know that's the blue book resale on your car. But with all those modifications to the average buyer your car isn't even worth $10,000. Modifying a car, for most resale markets, makes it lose value. Because you are shaping the car into what YOU want it to be, not exactly the next guy.
But I'm a Camaro enthusiast, and I would say your car is worth exactly what you put into it.

Bluebook was just a curious reference for me. It's still worth every bit of the 37K to me PLUS all the fun and scrapped knuckles & pride of doing the work.

Rule of thumb is if you plan on dumping thousands of dollars into your car, never expect to get that money back or plan on keeping the car forever.
De-modding in most cases is more work and money than it's worth. That's why many guys cut their losses and sell them as is.
For 4th gens, they aren't exactly very sought after or valuable cars at this time. But take for example a 1st gen. A bone stock all original numbers matching 69 Camaro will be worth tons more than the same car that's been heavily modified.

bramlok is right, there is a guy in my area with a 99 cobra, this thing is one nasty street car, before i got my ss i made him an offer on it, my offer was 17 , he got mad and honest i told him that he would not get a better offer ,i talked to him last week and he said his best offer in 3 years was 14,and then asked if i was still wanting the car lol , his car was a pro shop built car , built motor,pro charger,blah blah blah , has really low miles , under 20 k at the time of the offer, he still has the car and unless he can realize he is not gonna get the huge amount of money he has in it back he will never sell it ,,it sucks but you mod for yourself , i know i could never get what i have in my car back,

A lot of people don't get that. I have known plenty guys that sunk tens of thousands of dollars into cars and get mad when it comes time to try and sell it. When they find out the market for a certain car is only 30K when they have 40K invested in parts and labor, they don't take it too well. Heavily modifying a car may help increase the value slightly to the right buyer, but usually never close to what actual value is worth.

I appreciate all you guys' thoughts and insights about de-modding and poor resale value of moded cars. It wasn't really the point though. I hope the re-worded thread title helps.
It's just meant to show one guy's 9 yr plan, and what it has cost so far. The plan is still far from complete, though I will keep it N/A.

Haha, there used to be a local car website where members could track what they've spent on modifications (and couldn't count equipment which wasn't on the car such as race tires/wheels, previous clutches, previous replaced/worn/failed equipment, etc). The site crashed once so I entered it a second time, but not again! The moderator and I had in the low 20K range, without including the vehicle value itself. That was before the LS3 motor build we stuck in last summer too. I've got all the receipts too
