Very true - I wanted to keep going through the traps around 6500 or very close to that (stock bottom end)

Although, on the H/C setups I had before, I would shift at 6800 with the stock bottom end. I had ARP rods bolts and never had any trouble.

Already a lot of opinions in here, but I offer this:

I changed from stock 3.42 to 4.10 about a year ago. My MPG suffered more than I liked. I want from average 25MPG to 20MPG or less. My RPM are higher than I like also. If I had to do it again I would do 3.73. I am nit-picky tho so it may not bother you.

So that is my opinion based on experience. If you want my advice based on plenty of researching on here:
1) If you plan to mod the car with a good size cam... get the 4.10s (or 3.73 if you're nit-picky like me).
2) If you plan to drag race the car at all with sticky tires don't bother changing gears in the stock rear end. Just save for a stronger rear end (12-bolt, 9", etc).

Cheers. :drink:

I have 4:11s and absolutely love them. Mine have a bit of whine to them but its not that bad. MPG wise is not bad. Highway I usually average 26-28 ish at 1800 rpm or about 68 mph. I think mine ran total about $940

i have 3.08 gears and a stock clutch

honestly idk what i got myself into, i bought the car found out it has 3.08s, a stock clutch, and to much power for it rear end. im barely going to have enough money for a gear change let alone a new clutch and rear end...! what should i do!

You're asking questions that can't be answered. Could be 1 launch, could last for 150.

Expect the rear to break the first time you catch good traction, especially from a dig.
Clutch depends on how you drive it.

Borrowed time on both.

What happened to me, 4:10's where just to much, and unless i was running slicks on the street i could never catch traction, (this was on a bolt on LT1 too)

I like my 3:73's much better.

And about being on borrowed time with a stock clutch, im STILL on my stock clutch with 104,000 miles, and 418rwhp. It still catches just fine but i can never roll from a dig, the tires just blow off the car. I BABY the car everywhere unless im racing it, its all in your driving style.
