Winter storage costs
How much are you guys spending for inside storage? How are the storage places you see all over the place, or did you use something like a big warehouse? Did they give you a month to month contract or did they make you sign up for a few months. I didn't really drive my car much last winter from December to March and I'm thinking about putting it in storage to free up my garage this winter.

Every part of the country is different as far as pricing and contracts. It also depends if you want a climate controlled unit or just a 'bare bones' storage unit. Here in NC I was able to get one of those 'bare boned' units for $65 per month (I've seen them for over $100 per month for climate controlled) with no contract. Just paid the guy the 1st of the month. Try to get an end unit for easier mobility. It also lessens the chances for adjoining units to impact yours. People actually store food in the units and guess what it attracts? Yeah, mice and rats can be an issue. I laid out a few traps and caught two over the 6 months I needed storage last year. The unit seemed very tight but they manage to get in. Also keep an eye out for people 'scoping out' your movements if anyone is around. Many fine cars have been stolen from these places. Also don't tell management what is in there. None of their business unless you know them personally. I am fortunate I don't need the space anymore. No more worries.

Thanks for the info. In a way it's kind of sad that I'm probably going to park her for a few months, but I'm fortunate that I'm able to afford a good winter car. I'm still thinking about keeping it in the garage and (finally) taking a header install, but I just don't see the time or money being available. I stored my former V6 Camaro outside once, under a cover and it got scratched up pretty bad in a few places so no more covers.
