Default O2 sensors deleted. Will it pass emissions

I know this question has probably been asked before, but i searched and could not find an answer. If the post cat O2s are deleted out of the PCM, will the car pass emissions and will the emissions place be able to see that they've been deleted?

Not if a tuner has deleted them from the pcm, otherwise your SES should come on...

You need a tuner to take care of that and you will be all set. Only way you wont pass after that is if you have a nosey inspector that checks every little thing by the book. In most cases your obd will read ready and they will go no farther.

A 'Location' may help with better responses if people knew what State you lived in, ...
Emissions test are different all over the US.

Yep. They will never notice missing cats or other equippment if they don't do a visual, and many states don't these days....

Here in TN I only know of half a handful of people that failed from not having cats. They're supposed to do a visual but I'm pretty sure the big black lady puts the mirror under the car just to follow protocol. Computer says everything is fine and I'm on my way.

We don't even have a visual here in IL. No mirror, no engine bay check, no sniffer.....nobody looks or cares. Just a quick OBD scan and you're on your way.

Thanks guys. I'm in Illinois. I had the PCM reprogrammed to remove the rear O2s. The car has aftermarket cats installed, so if they do check, they will see that there are cats on the car.

For real? You have to do this in CA? What a pain.

In Houston we have the OBD2 plug in test but no one looks under the hood or under the car. I passed once with totally bald back tires. Out of the city areas there is not even the plug in test.

You are correct that it's federally illegal to move/remove the cats, but this state does not sanction visual inspections and therefore has no training or process in place for visual equipment verification at the test facilities.

We are OBD scan only in IL; there is no sniff, there is no visual, and cars 1995 and older are exempt.

They won't even look.

Baahaaaa, they fill out my sticker before they even see the car The last time I took the camaro up there, all the mechanics cleared out of the bays to come out and look at the car. The lady took my paperwork inside and filled out the stuff so I could stay outside and shoot the ****.

Good thing about CA is that they don't do safety inspections, as they do in yours I guess, although a safety inspection isn't necessarily a BAD thing...

You won't fail, but you will be "rejected" as you have too many incomplete DTC tests. You can have two incomplete for '96-'00 and one incomplete for '01+ vehicles. You will need to get at least two of those incompletes to flip to complete.

Edit: Just noticed the P0103 code, if that is current then it will cause you to fail, regardless of the readiness status.

What you have to do is put all the codes associated with those 3 tests to 3 - No Error Reported. Since there are so many of them, I kinda do like a big sweep of many of the emissions codes and it eventually makes 3 of the 4 tests ready then I go in for the inspection. Right after I go back to the original tune.

And you'll have to do the same for the MAF code also.
