22 years old still in college for another 2 to 2 1/2 years. Have a 99 camaro z28 with 140,000 miles on it. Can't do anything with it anytime soon until I graduate from college but the 98-02 Camaro was my dream machine. Should I hang onto it or sell it and get another one after college?

If it's your dream car, then why would you want to sell it? I guess the only reason that would make sense would be to get a nicer/lower mileage one to keep for the long haul. If that's you're plan, then it makes sense. But if the one you have is already up to your standards, then I would just keep it.

I'll be honest with you. I am in your exact same shoes. I'm 20 and had a 1998 z28 A4 with 140k miles. I put a lot of work into it until it was full boltons and stall. I loved the car and one day I decided to sell it. The day after I sold it I was mad. I missed that car really bad. I drove a couple of newer cars and hated them all when compared to my fbody. I recently traded in my 2012 Ford Focus that I had bought thinking about gas mileage on a 2002 SS. Best decision i've made. Long story short, from my experience, if you have something you love don't get rid of it because you will regret it.

Forgot to mention the car is slowly starting to show its signs of sitting and giving me small fits for instance it dies randomly while driving and the security light is on all the time now. But my worry was that it is gonna be junk by the time I get to try and do anything with it.

My '98 has spent the better part of the last 13 years sitting in the garage (16k miles), and all the original parts are still in excellent working order. Then again, I do have several processes that I follow to ensure it stays healthy under such limited use.

Im also in the same position as you man. My z has 224k on it and it looks the part but I take care of it and it takes care of me. I plan on keeping mine til im done with school to either mod or dd like I do now. If its your dream car, don't get rid of it cuz the second you hand the keys over, youll regret it.

In my opinion, if the Camaro is your dream car, and you can afford to keep it even if you can't mod it, than hang on to it. As stated above by Tyler, you might just be kicking yourself for selling it. I read a quote once- "Never sell your first hot rod- everything that's old can be made new again."

you know, i had a buddy when i was stationed in hawaii, (he might chime in on here) but, he had a very nice NBM SS loved it, he sold it to get a Z06, he was upset he sold his camaro :/, i mean, his SS was CHERRY tho, but either way, if it's the camaro YOU want, keep it, if you don't like the color, or interior, or something BIG sell it, and get the one you want, i'm happy with mine, it's red, and it runs strong, so really for me it's just the interior to make me happy haha, (its fabric, and showing 13 years of wear)

Eh it isn't all the time it is just every once in awhile. It was a car I loved when I first got it because it was 100% stock.

Stockers can still be had. I overpaid for my black ws6 m6. But just because I was looking forever for one that was as clean as mine was. But now I know everything on that car. So you can find another stock car and do the things you wish you did on your old one

140K is just getting warmed up for alot of LS1's with proper maintenance and such. Fix the problems that are currently present and enjoy it. You're in college bro. Bang some chicks and drive that camaro around!

Focus on school, if it's your dream car park it at your parents... Don't mod it or even put money into it. Put every bit of your effort into academics. Once that's done enjoy the car.
