He was talking on the motor, but he never specified RWHP. The whole dyno/RWHP is a late model thing for the most part. Most of us old schoolers are used to engine dynos and or calculations based on track times. The OP has not even told us what kind of car he has. It has all been theoretical discussion.

when i first posted i put that it is going in a 1999 z28 camaro. Im wanting it to be a street/drag but mostly be on the street and once in awhile on track id like to get around 500 to 600 hp to wheels and eventually add a super charger and hopefully get closer to 700 to 800 hp. im just not sure on going with the ls2 or lq9 ive heard alot of good and bad about the aluminum blocks the thing that worries me about the ls2 is if something goes wrong having to spend alot more money resleeving where as the lq9 can just be bored but i like the idea of the ls2 being alot lighter im just a little confused on what to go with.
thanks for all the help.

if u can get the ls3, i would, imho. more cubic inches are a plus. plus, stock or even mildly ported heads flow great! i think you will still need a power adder tho. you should probably decide which route ( FI, OR N02 ) u wanna take for the future because they will be very different builds. no sence in spending the money twice. as far as will it work? sure will. just need a different crank, and a few other things. someone else may have a better list to tell you....Shawn

I had been kind of thinking 402/408/ls2/ls3 for the last few weeks and finally decided to just get whatever I got the best deal on. Turned out to be an l92 that had been rebuilt and set up to run in an ls1 (24x) environment. For whatever reason if someone over on performancetrucks.net sells an l92 it's cheap as ****, if someone here sells and ls3 it's $3800+ (and yes I know the differences, but they are fairly minor for my purposes). Point being, if there is some magic power number you are trying to hit there are a million ways to get there and no way is the right way. Stay open minded and check other forums, you never know what will turn up or how much it will cost you. As for lq9 vs ls2, my first motor was an lq9 and my second was an ls1. Just in terms of moving it around and working on it in the garage I think aluminum is worth the price, and 80lbs is a lot to be swinging around on the front of a car.
