I've been semi-serious about searching for a vette and prices on the base C6 coupes are pretty good. I found a '06 C6 with a 6-spd at Carmax (which is usually higher anyway) for 26k with around 40k miles. That's even affordable for me but I still love my Z28 too much to trade her in.

It's one thing to compare an F-Body to a C5, but the C6 really is a superior car, you have to drive one to understand, they are absolutely awesome. I'd trade my SS for one in a heartbeat, it's very tough to compare the F-Body's to them.

I love the C6s as well, and while I wouldn't trade my '98 for one (that car is going to be a life-long commitment to me), a C6 will probably eventually replace my driver '02 car.

I could see myself buying a C5 as a replacement summer driver for my '02 Z at some point, if a good deal came along on a really low mile one. But I just don't like them enough to consider one as part of my long term collection. Like I said earlier, I'd still rather have a super clean, low mile F-body because they just suit me better, but in my region it's getting hard to find really nice low mile F-bodies that are optioned the way I want. I've been passively in the market on and off for about 6 months now, and haven't found what I'm looking for yet. There are tons of nice, lightly used C5s around here though, since most people in this climate don't daily drive them.

Idk if you have already decided which to choose, but just a couple months ago I picked up a 2002 Red Trans Am, non WS6, A4, Traction, t-tops, MINT condition, with 12k miles on it.
Price: $12,300. That's a deal.
Deals are out there, just have to be patient.

Today, a guy i work with has a 2001 C5 with 147k and he wanted to trade for my WS6 with 78k. he acted like he had been looking for a clean WS6 for a long time and really preferred the WS6s to his C5.

if you are going to use it for street racing around town the WS6 is the way to go in general, not based on price, way easier to make hook-up, 40-140 down the highway and at Sonic they are both cool cars, vette is more fun to drive around in my opinion, a little more attention from the more refined women/girls if that matters...9k is a little high but not far off they are getting harder to find even here in Texas. the WS6 will get more looks at the 'meets' than the vette will without mods IMHO...
