Default Used 6L questions-need advice

Where I live, 6.0l's (lq4) are few and far between and usually demand over $1600.
Well I just found what i think is a good deal. I found a 2001 lq4 with 130,000 miles. Motor tested with 170-190 comp, 40psi oil pressure at idle hot, all accessories for $1000.
So what I'd like to know is, do you think I could run it as is with the miles or should I re-ring and bearing? Anything that I really need to look out for on this year/mileage of engine?
The plan is cam change, carb conversion and L92 heads for a street/strip car.
Any help would be appreciated

Where do you live? Thats pretty steep for an lq4? Usually ones with around 75-80k on them go for around 1500 complete by me so paying 1k for one with 130k on it is a little steep in my eyes. At 130kyou would probably be ok with go ahea an doing your mods however if you're going to have it torn down that far then I would go ahead and do it. Try browsing the classified on here or even craigslist maybe you can fin a god short block since you would be changing the heads anyway.

I paid $650 for my LQ4 longblock from a salvage yard but mileage was unknown.

I've seen em on average go ~$1200-2500 mileage dependent.

I live in Western Canada, its a simple matter of demand exceeding supply and driving the price up.
This is the first sub $1500 LQ4 I've found in 6 months of looking

Why not take a trip below the border and get one for half?

That would be great, but every trip off the island costs me $200. Factor in gas money, my time and paying duty/taxes at the border.
To work out cheaper I'd basically have to find an LQ4 in Washington state for under $600
