i did research for a while and read on the internet that 98-02 center consoles would fit perfectly in 93-97 firebirds so i bought one. we installed it this weekend and it did fit pretty much perfect but there is a gap on each side under the center console in the front ( ash tray, cig lighter area) there is like a 1 to 2 inch gap inbetween the carpet and the center console on each side we looked it over and there is no other way to put it in, ive looked everywhere and there is no information about this problem and everywhere says they fit with no mods or any problems. ive read theres problems when installing into a camaro but the car we installed it in is a 1993 firebird formula produced in april of 93 and the console is out of a 1999 trans am. Can someone please explain if this is normal or what the problem could be or a solution to fill the gaps. thankyou
