nearly the same pressure-drop as a stock lid+silencer.
People pay good money to fix -that- loss.

I've been running a descreened 85mm Delphi for a very
long time now, and it's needed no real tuning; the stock
Z06 table works fine there. But I have a very straight
inlet tract. I would not claim to predict what somebody
else's lineup would see. Some lids were said to affect
descreened MAFs more than others, but that's all second
or thirdhand.

I'd recommend that if you can't tune it yourself, don't
go hacking on hardware.
Thank you, the screen causes a pressure drop which results in a small loss of manifold pressure which results in a small loss in power. Simple as that. Inlet ducts is what directs airflow they can be straight, convergent, or divergent.

I was able to pop my screen out after some finess with the flat end of a 3/8 extension.

I can't say the screen helps much but I understand manifold pressure and airflow from my schooling as an aircraft mechanic. And somehow my 6 speed managed to run a 12.85 at 111 with street tires/ stock worn out clutch and the hated flowmaster mufflers, bbk headers, and an no ls6 intake. Too many people see one post on this forum and think its solid fact

Some of these people have seen different results:

Different cars/applications = different results apparently. There was a good link within the above link that explained this further:

----------

"The best page I have found to read about "turbulence management" was this one from Peter Bradshaw:

http://navier.stanford.edu/bradshaw/...nelconfig.html

Might not all be useful, but click on the "screens" and "honeycomb" for pages about them."

I just changed my air filter today and checked my screen. It had two small pieces of grass or a leaf stuck in it, so I'm glad my screen is still there!
